Privacy Policy

Effective: 26 October 2026

This policy explains what information Gămung collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. "Gămung", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs the Gămung app. If you have a question, write to gamung.app@gmail.com or use Help & Support in the app.

The short version

• We collect what you give us (your profile, posts, listings, messages) and a little technical information needed to run the app.
• We don't sell your information and we don't show ads.
• We don't use analytics or tracking tools, and we don't use your phone's GPS. Your location is the township you choose.
• Your birth date, gender and interests are private. Other people never see them.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and most of your information is deleted with it right away.

Information you give us

• Account: your email address, or your Google or Apple sign-in, and a password if you use one.
• Profile: your name, photo, bio, any links you add (website or social accounts) and the location you choose (state, township). You can make your account private.
• Private details: your birth date, gender and interests. We ask for your birth date to check your age (see "Children and age limits"). These are never shown on your profile.
• What you post: posts, photos, comments, polls, shares, reactions and votes; communities you create or join.
• Gămung Mart and Gămung Jobs: items you sell, jobs you post, and job applications you send, including any résumé (PDF) you attach.
• Messages: your chats with other users, including photos and the posts, jobs or listings you share in them.
• Support: messages you send to Gămung Support and the details that come with them (topic, app version, phone type).
• Reports: what you report and why.
• Gămung Verified: if you apply for the Verified badge, the details you send us to check the account — your email, your profile link and what the account is for — and records of your application. We use these only to check the account.

Information collected automatically

• Notifications: if you allow notifications, a device token so we can send them, and your app language.
• Activity status: when you were last active, shown to people you message with. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy (this also hides others' status from you).
• Basic records: when things were created or changed, and records our servers keep to run securely (for example, sign-in sessions).

We do not collect your contacts, your precise location, or your browsing outside the app.

How we use information

• To run the app: show your profile and posts, deliver messages, run Mart, Jobs and communities.
• To show what's relevant: for example, jobs, items and communities near the location you chose appear first, and among listings posted around the same time, those from Gămung Verified accounts come before others.
• To keep Gămung safe: check ages for age-limited features, review reports, remove content that breaks our rules, stop scams and harassment, and suspend accounts when needed. Some checks are automatic: posts and comments with wording common in scams are flagged for the team to review, and a post reported by several people is hidden until the team has looked at it.
• To support you: answer your messages and tell you about important changes to your account.
• To send notifications you've allowed, such as new messages or job application updates.

What other people can see

• Public by default: your name, photo, bio, profile links, location, followers count, posts in public communities, your Mart listings and jobs.
• Private account: only approved followers see your profile posts. Your listings and jobs stay public so buyers and job seekers can find them.
• Private communities: only members see posts inside them. Exception: when a post, comment or community in a private community is reported, the Gămung safety team can view what was reported (with its comments, for context) — only while the report is being handled and for a short time after — to investigate scams, harassment or other rule-breaking. The team does this without joining, cannot post there, and every such view is recorded.
• Anonymous posts and comments: other users don't see who wrote them, but they are still linked to your account. The Gămung team can see who wrote them when looking into a report or a rule violation.
• Job applications: the person who posted the job sees your application and résumé. Résumés are stored privately and opened only through short-lived links.
• Messages: only you and the person you're chatting with see your messages in the app. Messages are stored on our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted. We don't read your messages as a routine; authorised team members may look at them only to investigate a report, to protect someone's safety, or when the law requires it. Photos sent in messages are stored at hard-to-guess links; anyone who is given such a link can open it, so only send photos you're comfortable with. To open chats faster and use less mobile data, the app also keeps a copy of your recent messages and your chat list on your phone, inside the app's own storage; it's removed when you sign out.

Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to run Gămung:

• Supabase: hosts our database, file storage and sign-in. Our servers are located in India (Mumbai).
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service: deliver notifications to your phone.
• Google Firebase Crashlytics: when the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a crash report so we can fix it: what went wrong in the app, your phone model and system version, the app version, and your account's random ID (not your name, email or posts).
• Google and Apple: if you choose to sign in with them, they confirm your identity to us. We don't get your Google or Apple password.
• Google Workspace (Gmail and Google Sheets): our team uses Gmail to reply by email and keeps a copy of support messages in a private Google Sheet to manage them.
• Shorebird: lets us send app fixes without a store update. The app checks Shorebird's servers for updates, sending only the app version, the kind of phone (iPhone or Android) and a random install ID — not your name, email or posts.
• The law: we may share information if we're legally required to, or if it's necessary to protect someone from serious harm.

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.

How long we keep information

• While your account exists: we keep your information until you delete it or delete your account.
• When you delete your account: your profile, posts, comments, listings, jobs, applications and uploaded files are deleted right away. Communities you own alone are deleted too; communities with other members must be handed to someone else first. A comment of yours that other people replied to becomes an empty "Comment deleted" line, so their replies stay.
• Your chats: the people you messaged keep their copy of the conversation, including your messages and photos, shown as "Gămung user" without your name or profile photo. A conversation is deleted once both people have deleted their accounts.
• What we keep after deletion: to keep the community safe and meet legal duties, we may keep: copies of content our team removed for breaking the rules (kept as evidence, with the reason); copies of content that had been reported and was still under review when it, or your account, was deleted (kept as evidence for the team); reports and the team's moderation records; and copies of your support messages and our replies (in our support Sheet and email). Gămung Verified application emails are kept in our email for up to 12 months, then deleted. Records of Gămung Verified applications are kept for our accounts, without your name. We keep these only as long as they're needed for safety or legal reasons.

Children and age limits

• You must be at least 13 to use Gămung. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we'll delete it.
• Selling in Gămung Mart, posting jobs and applying to jobs are for people 18 and over.
• Your birth date can't be changed after you set it. If it's wrong, contact Gămung Support.

Your choices and rights

• See and edit: you can view and change your profile and private details in the app.
• Delete: delete posts, comments, listings and jobs at any time, or your whole account from Settings > Account & Security.
• Privacy controls: make your account private, hide your activity status, block people, and mute notifications.
• Get a copy or ask a question: write to gamung.app@gmail.com and we'll help.

If you live in the European Union or the UK, you also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your information, to receive a copy in a portable form, and to complain to your data protection authority. We use your information to provide the service you asked for (contract), to keep Gămung safe and prevent fraud (legitimate interests), to meet legal duties, and with your consent where we ask for it (for example, notifications).

Security

We use encrypted connections, access rules that limit who can see what, and private storage for sensitive files such as résumés. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and don't share sign-in codes. Gămung will never ask for your password, sign-in codes or a payment in a message.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app.

• မက်ဆေ့များ: အက်ပ်ထဲတွင် သင်နှင့် စကားပြောနေသူသာ မက်ဆေ့များကို မြင်ရပါသည်။ မက်ဆေ့များကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ ဆာဗာများတွင် သိမ်းဆည်းထားပြီး end-to-end encryption မပါပါ။ သင့်မက်ဆေ့များကို ပုံမှန်အားဖြင့် မဖတ်ပါ။ တိုင်ကြားချက်စုံစမ်းရန်၊ တစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်၏ ဘေးကင်းရေးကို ကာကွယ်ရန် သို့မဟုတ် ဥပဒေအရ လိုအပ်သည့်အခါမှသာ ခွင့်ပြုထားသော အဖွဲ့ဝင်များက ကြည့်နိုင်ပါသည်။ မက်ဆေ့ထဲ ပို့သည့် ဓာတ်ပုံများကို ခန့်မှန်းရခက်သော လင့်ခ်များတွင် သိမ်းထားပါသည်။ ထိုလင့်ခ်ရရှိသူ မည်သူမဆို ဖွင့်ကြည့်နိုင်သဖြင့် စိတ်ချရသော ဓာတ်ပုံများကိုသာ ပို့ပါ။ စကားပြောခန်းများကို ပိုမြန်မြန်ဖွင့်နိုင်ရန်နှင့် မိုဘိုင်းဒေတာ သက်သာစေရန် သင့်မကြာသေးမီက မက်ဆေ့များနှင့် စကားပြောစာရင်း၏ မိတ္တူကို သင့်ဖုန်းရှိ အက်ပ်၏ကိုယ်ပိုင် သိုလှောင်ရာထဲတွင်လည်း သိမ်းထားပါသည်။ အကောင့်မှ ထွက်လိုက်သည့်အခါ ဖျက်ပစ်ပါသည်။

အချက်အလက်များကို မည်သူနှင့် မျှဝေသနည်း

Gămung လည်ပတ်ရန် လိုအပ်သလောက်သာ မျှဝေပါသည်:
